DekhNaThodaPrivacy policy
DekhNaThoda is a browser extension that helps you catch up on Google Meet and Microsoft Teams (web) meetings you stepped away from. It is designed to keep your data on your own computer. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no tracking, and never sells or shares data.
What it reads
- Live captions shown on your screen in meet.google.com, teams.microsoft.com, teams.live.com and teams.cloud.microsoft — the captions the meeting app already displays to you. DekhNaThoda never joins a meeting and never sends anything into it.
- The meeting tab’s audio, only if you turn on Audio backup, only after you click the extension icon in that tab, and only between “away” and “back”.
- Whether your computer is idle or locked (Chrome’s idle API), to know when you’re away. It reports a state only, not what you do.
What it stores
Your settings, meeting transcripts, catch-ups and optional recordings are stored in your browser only (chrome.storage and IndexedDB). They are deleted automatically after the retention period you choose (14 days by default). You can delete everything in Settings → Privacy & data, and removing the extension deletes it all.
What leaves your computer
Only if you choose to use these features:

Groq’s data handling is described at console.groq.com/docs/your-data. You can turn on Zero Data Retention in your Groq account.
Permissions
- storage, unlimitedStorage — saving settings, transcripts and catch-ups locally.
- idle — noticing when you lock your screen (or go idle, if you turn that on).
- notifications — telling you when your name was mentioned while you were away.
- tabCapture, offscreen, activeTab — the optional audio backup of the meeting tab.
- scripting — refreshing open meeting tabs after an update.
- alarms — the daily clean-up of old data.
- Site access — Meet and Teams (reading captions), api.groq.com (summaries) and ntfy.sh (optional phone alerts).
Recording and consent
Transcribing or recording meetings may require other participants’ consent where you live or work. You are responsible for using DekhNaThoda in line with your organisation’s policies and local law.
